 Actor/Director/Teaching Artist

What Amanda is doing?

Amanda is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at State College of Florida. She teaches Theatre Appreciation Live and Online, Acting I & II, Voice & Diction, Script Analysis and Movement for the Actor. She teaches five courses per semester with The State College of Florida and directs two mainstage shows per year.  Highlights include: Love/Sick by John Cariani and The Shadow Box by Michael Christofer.  Amanda has served as a Co-Coordinator of The Players New Playfest and directed the World Premier of THE MANAGER by Douglas Gearhart at The Players Centre for the Performing Arts.   Amanda Co-Facilitated a reimagining of Greek Mythology with Craig Smith (SCF Theatre Program Manager) and The SCF Film Department "Mythos."  She also performed in Thirst with Urbanite Theatre's Spring Reading Series.  In addition, Amanda has been a part of The Suncoast Culture Club conducting podcasts and performed in a film released on Amazon Prime Surviving Lunch.  Amanda recently directed Significant Other and The Harvest in the 2019-2020 Season. Some of her favorite shows with the college include:  Bob:  A Life in Five Acts, The Laramie Project, Gaslight and Anatomy of Grey.   This summer, Amanda performed with American Stage for their virtual reading of Romeo and Juliet and directed one of the new plays with The Players Theatre New Play Festival.  Amanda also works with Christine Alexander providing laughter workshops to multiple groups in the community! To find out more information or to book a workshop, go to Laugh to Feel Good.  Amanda graduated from the University of Florida with her MFA in Acting. At the University, she was a Fellow and was one of the recipients of the 2015 Graduate Student Teacher Award of the Year.  She also was an intern with Shands Arts in Medicine under the direction of Jill Sonke. UF performance credits include Woman 1 in Metamorphoses, Lily Garland in Twentieth Century, Blanche in Brighton Beach Memoirs, Maryamma in Miss Witherspoon, The Mother in Blood Wedding and Tecmessa/Gertrude Bell in Ajax in Iraq.

About Amanda

As a Director her credits include: State College of Florida, The Out-of-Door Academy, Reflections Theatre Ensemble's Songs for a New World,  two seasons with Kaleidoscope (Picture This & Unwritten) a partnership with Asolo Rep and Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities; The gg Monologues; Sarasota Actors' Workshop and Assistant Director for The Source Theatre (I Want to Know), as Event Coordinator with the National Tour of "The Day I Opened My Eyes", The Players Theatre (Burn This, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Flapper, Wonderland, Music Man, Best Beware My Sting, Toy Camp and multiple original showcases) Amanda has also worked with American Stage, Sarasota Community School, The Sarasota Film Festival and Girl Scouts of America. 
As an Actor, Amanda has performed with The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, The Orlando Fringe Festival, The gg Monologues, Florida Studio Theatre (New Play Festival), The Gorilla Theatre, Sarasota Actor’s Workshop, The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe and toured nationally with The Day I Opened My Eyes, Hampstead Stage Company and multiple children’s theatre companies. 

As a Teaching Artist, Amanda has had the opportunity of teaching with State College of Florida, The University of Florida, Asolo Rep, American Stage, New York Film Academy, The Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, SOURCE Productions, The Out-of-Door Academy, Community Haven for Adults and Children with Disabilities and The International Performing Arts Academy.
